4 Tips For Memorizing Scriptures.

Memorizing scriptures…

 Joshua 1:8 says, “This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shall meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success”.

Memorizing the scriptures has a plethora of benefits but few, include:

Helps you exercise your mind to retain the word of God.

It equips you for the evil day e.g. Jesus in the wilderness

On this post you will learn practical but simple tips/steps to effective memorization of the scriptures, which are;

READ THE BIBLE

The best way to get the right verse to memorize is by reading the bible itself. I wouldn’t advise you to look up one scripture from the internet and start memorizing. Studying of the scriptures for yourself is very vital then the Holy Spirit will guide you to a striking verse. #memorizing scriptures

SPEAK SCRIPTURE ALOUD

After repeatedly reciting undertone, speak it out loud or shout it repeatedly. This will help drive it into your heart. Isaiah 55:11 says, “so is my word that goes out from my mouth: it will not return to me empty, but will accomplish what I desire…….

WRITE OUT BIBLE VERSES

After shouting it loud repeatedly, write it out. The temptation to type on your digital device is high but choose to write it down on a book/paper. Writing it out means recollecting from your memory, you can reference with what you read to ensure you’re on course. #memorizing scriptures

PLACE SCRIPTURE PURPOSEFULLY

Intentionally place what you’ve written in strategic locations around you, where you can easily see it. For instance, you can stick them in your car, bathroom mirror, office desk, dressing mirror etc. it must be easily noticeable. I have a portable note with scriptures on it that I carry around (that’s what works me).

PRAY WITH IT

The most important step is to pray with the scripture. While praying, quote the scripture and pray along with it. This is a spiritual activity as it helps to drive it into your spirit. #memorizing scriptures

Child of God, the word of God has to be in your consciousness to produce results in your life. When it’s in your consciousness, it’ll be in your mouth; and the word in your mouth is a creative force don’t forget that there are depth in the study of the word of God, its deeper than just memorizing the scriptures, its feasting on the flesh of Jesus (word), eating Him (this is different from reading the bible to memorize and get knowledge) we devour and feed on it that we become one with it. There is always more—-go for more, strive for more.

You are unstoppable!

  1. This is awesome, I think the part that I have not explored is writing out scriptures and also making use of sticky notes. I will start doing that now
