Many Christians today do not have the depth of understanding of who God is and cannot go into the deeper and mature state in Christ because we allow ourselves to be ruled by the flesh.
Many misunderstand that God would let them stay in their carnal state being in the flesh. However, the power of the Holy Spirit is that it frees us from the flesh.
The spirit of Jesus who is in us make us into a new self everyday daily, we are called to kill the things of the flesh through the power of the Spirit daily. How to be delivered from the flesh…
Nothing can break the power of flesh within us except the Spirit of Christ and one of the reasons why the church lost the power today is because the church is allowing themselves ruled by the flesh and not walking according to the power of the spirit.
We say the head is Christ and the body is the Spirit, however, we are not allowing the head to be the head but we are coming into another authority which is ourselves. How to be delivered from the flesh…
If we truly desire Jesus to be our head, we must ask the Lord to fill us with Holy Spirit because nobody can know the mind of Christ unless you have the Spirit of Christ in you – 1 Corinthians 2.
No matter how much you study, no matter how you try to gain knowledge in theology, if your life is under the subjection of the flesh and not the Spirit, you will never reach the fullness in depth of Jesus Christ.
Paul rebukes the church of Corinthians.
1 Corinthians 3:1-3
[1]Dear brothers and sisters, when I was with you I couldn’t talk to you as I would to spiritual people. I had to talk as though you belonged to this world or as though you were infants in Christ.
[2]I had to feed you with milk, not with solid food, because you weren’t ready for anything stronger. And you still aren’t ready,
[3]for you are still controlled by your sinful nature. You are jealous of one another and quarrel with each other. Doesn’t that prove you are controlled by your sinful nature? Aren’t you living like people of the world?
The Church of Corinthians had spiritual gifts, we have to recognize that even if you have spiritual gifs, no matter what kind they are, still, you can be infants in Christ Jesus.
We who have been saved by grace must grow in stages, however, we can still be infants, not allowing the Spirit to break us. 1 Corinthians 3:2
There are hard and solid messages that can be only understood and accepted by people who are really denying themselves everyday and bearing their cross, walking in the way of Christ, but when we are compromising flesh and sin, we can only have the milk not the solid food, the deeper messages of Christ.
We are of the flesh when there is jealousy, fears, strife, the fruits of the flesh, the conducts of the flesh etc.
Galatians 5:16-18
[16]So I say, let the Holy Spirit guide your lives. Then you won’t be doing what your sinful nature craves.
[17]The sinful nature wants to do evil, which is just the opposite of what the Spirit wants. And the Spirit gives us desires that are the opposite of what the sinful nature desires. These two forces are constantly fighting each other, so you are not free to carry out your good intentions.
[18]But when you are directed by the Spirit, you are not under obligation to the law of Moses.
When we first come back to Christ, because we were residing in the flesh there might be old habits of sin, but as we walk with Christ time to time, you will be more sanctified, more free from things that have been bidding you.
However, if you are not seeing the growth after a period of time/years, you may have to look back and see if you are really seeking Christ and growing in Him. How to be delivered from the flesh…
I understand that, when you love something, no matter what obstacles you still follow and want more of that because it’s something you love. How to be delivered from the flesh…
When we first came to Christ, there was this first love and when we love Christ, no matter how weak we are, through the power of the spirit, we start to follow the things of God and not the earthly things-the love of the world: the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, the pride of life, they are all opposite from the love of the Father.
So, when we love God we pursue God just naturally, but when you are in a lukewarm state, you will naturally start to compromise things in your life and ends up losing your faith or your fire or either being in a carnal state that it becomes hard to recover.
Then how can we live a life that is being ruled by the spirit of Christ? Is that even possible? The first is that we recognize and be convicted that we are being ruled by the flesh. It is as simple as admitting before the Lord that you cannot overcome it by your own power.
Then a heart of repentant and Faith in Christ Jesus.
