HOW TO WALK IN THE SPIRIT

Hello siblings in Christ, I hope this writing gains you more understanding and clarity on how to walk in-Christ or rather to say walking in the Spirit. It will be fair to establish the truth that God has given us the ability to walk in His statutes by putting His Spirit in us. His Spirit is an enabling ability to follow His ways.

Ezekiel 36:26-27
[26]And I will give you a new heart, and I will put a new spirit in you. I will take out your stony, stubborn heart and give you a tender, responsive heart.
[27]And I will put my Spirit in you so that you will follow my decrees and be careful to obey my regulations.

Philippians 2:13
[13]For God is working in you, giving you the desire and the power to do what pleases him.

Now, according to the above mentioned  verse in the book of Philippians , it is already established that we have Godly desires in us, in our nature. We can have the desire to pray which is our Spirit in expression but most of the time yield to the desires of the body which is not to pray. Walking in the Spirit is refusing not to enslave our Spirit by the mind and the body.

This writing is on how to walk in the Spirit and it is necessarily not an immediate action or physical movement, but a mind consciousness; a pattern of thinking, which means our thought is where our walk in the Spirit begins.

Ephesians 4:17-18
[17]This I say, therefore, and testify in the Lord, that you should no longer walk as the rest of the Gentiles walk, in the futility of their mind,
[18]having their understanding darkened, being alienated from the life of God, because of the ignorance that is in them, because of the blindness of their heart;

Can I say that the mind is an eye to the heart? what the mind has been fed will result in the conduct of our lives. Intentional awareness of God and all He has given to us in Christ (Christ conscious) will provide Christ’s conduct to find an expression in us.

What are your dominant thoughts?

Are they Christ-like or bag of dung?

Can you dare your dominant thought be Christ-like?

We are somehow wired to act out our dominant thoughts, for example, if you constantly think about lustful things; you find your words and actions expressed in them, even the times you want to do the opposite you see yourself struggling, you will also find it difficult to walk in love when you count offense and what people are doing wrong.

2 Timothy 1:9
[9]who has saved us and called us with a holy calling, not according to our works, but according to His own purpose and grace which was given to us in Christ Jesus before time began,

We are Holy as a nature but the mind still has to be renewed through the word. When your mind and thought pattern are fixated on Christ and all that has been given to us in Him, your life will be completely Christ-like/Christ patterned.

James 1:22-24
[22]But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves.
[23]For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man observing his natural face in a mirror;
[24]for he observes himself, goes away, and immediately forgets what kind of man he was.

Even though our actions do not make us become the son of God, but rather being the son of God influences our action, the Spirit of God in us birthed that which makes us do the things which we do e.g. the fruit of the Spirit in Gal 5:22-23 is within every child of God but if you don’t walk in it, it can’t be expressed instead you live opposite of the Spirit in you.

The new creation’s nature is pure and holy, regardless of that, you can produce characters or accept situations that betray your nature because of a wrong thought pattern/mindset which makes your life navigate toward the direction of your predominant thoughts and this will always produce the same results irrespective of locations, that is why our dominant thought should be who we are in-Christ if we want to live triumphant life.

Studying more of the word and focusing more on who we are in Christ will produce Christ habits. Siblings in Christ, if we can focus and think on what we have in Christ and what God has spoken about us/what He has done for our freedom, we will live that  triumphant life.

Romans 8:5
[5]For those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit, the things of the Spirit.

Apostle Paul told us to walk by faith and not by sight which we already know that faith is a person-Christ. Walking in faith is a Christ conscious thing; subjecting your thoughts towards everything Christ has done in you and for you, all that has been given to you inChrist and not outside of Him; for anything outside of Him is walking by what you see, your feelings and the world’s reality.

Faith according to Hebrews 11 is the person of Christ as God fulfilling His promise to our fathers, living in that reality is walking in the Spirit, don’t be mistaken that as a believer you’re already in the Spirit as a nature but walking in that Spirit is a conscious thing, it is something you do intentionally. For example:

The word says “where the Spirit of God is there is liberty” best believe that if you still think the herbalist in your village still has influences over your life, then you’re not walking in the Spirit. The word calls you a new creature and old things have passed away” but you still label yourself according to what you were/done before you received Christ then you are not walking in the Spirit.

Apostle Paul said this after he had an encounter with Jesus, entered the temple and said “I have wronged no man” this is someone that has rendered many in that meeting fatherless, widows and childless through persecution, the definition of aman that knows who he is in Christ, a totally new man.

In the Spirit is your residence after you have received Christ, you can never be outside of the Spirit but you can refuse to walk in the Spirit and walk in the flesh( the flesh here in not in the body, it is anything outside of Christ) which is acting against the word. A man in the flesh cannot resist satan because there is never a middle ground, it is either you are in Christ or outside of Christ.

Time has come when believers need to quit studying the bible through the lens of materialism, your interpretation of the scriptures affects your perspective (how you think) and your thinking pattern reflects your lifestyle.

Stay on the word by the help of the Holy Spirit, for the level of knowledge you walk in affects your conduct (character).

You are unstoppable!

[…] fruit of the Spirit or better called walking in the Spirit is the product of having the Spirit of God in us. An important truth you have to realize, actualize […]

Awesome! A renewed mind is a renewed man, and to the man who minds the things of the Spirit, the way of the flesh does not exist for him to walk! Nice one!

Thank you, SV
