THE POTTER AND THE CLAY

The Potter and the clay.

So many times the things we refer to as difficulties in our walk with Christ are actually discipline. A responsible Father’s greatest desire is to have responsible children too. To be disciplined by God, He puts you in situations that look totally strange and uncomfortable to you

He is the Potter, we are the clay. It does the clay no good to question the intent of the Potter towards the clay, the Potter in His infinite wisdom is knowledgeable enough to know the best path for every clay (individual).

Ephesians 2:10
[10]For we are God’s [own] handiwork (His workmanship), recreated in Christ Jesus, [born anew] that we may do those good works which God predestined (planned beforehand) for us [taking paths which He prepared ahead of time], that we should walk in them [living the good life which He prearranged and made ready for us to live].

The above scripture has identified us as His masterpiece, a very special work of art made by our Father. Regardless of how you feel about your life/path (luxuries or not) you still remain a perfect masterpiece, specially made for the master’s use.

God made us for His pleasure alone( the thing that pleases Him alone) – this is God simply living through us, no wonder Paul called himself a slave of God.

Revelation 4:11
[11]Worthy are You, our Lord and God, to receive the glory and the honor and dominion, for You created all things; by Your will they were [brought into being] and were created. [Ps. 19:1.]

A man genuinely in Christ Jesus is not obligated to do what he pleases and how he pleases, our personal will and desires became non-existence the day Jesus became our Lord and master. As we delight in Him, He changes our desires so that they glorify Him.

We allow Him live through us for His own pleasure. First, we were created for that very purpose, a shoe manufacturer made shoe to protect our feet while we move around, this is the original intent of the manufacturer and that is how he want to see what He made used and nothing else, but imagine the shoe demanding an answer from the manufacturer on why He made it to be on people’s feet, why not make me a cloth hanger?

This is how most believers are, this unpleasant attitude we exhibit. We reject the exact purpose and plans of God for our lives and choose to walk a different path from what God’s original intentions are for our lives. This is rebellion!

Many don’t have an idea of the Father’s will and intent for their lives as a believer, Apostle Paul told us to study in other to know the will and purpose of God for lives. Not spending enough time in study with the help of the Holy Spirit will leave you questioning every move and leadings of the Holy Spirit in your life including His voice.

Severally, in some difficult points/events of my life that left me asking God bitterly why I have to experience a particular hardship/difficulties, he does not seize to reply me with this scripture.

Romans 9:21
[21]Has the potter no right over the clay, to make out of the same mass (lump) one vessel for beauty and distinction and honorable use, and another for menial or ignoble and dishonorable use?

Jesus said in John 4:34 “my food is to do the will of Him who sent Me and to completely finish His work”. Jesus fulfillment and nourishment is in doing the will of the Father (the Potter)- the exact purpose the Potter made the clay for, this should be the very live of every believer, to kill our personal choices and to the seek the Potter’s plan. God’s will for Jesus was to die and by His death save us. Who could have endured such path?

Let us come to this reality where we speak like Jesus in John 5:30 “…because I do not seek My own will, but only the will of Him who sent me”. The time your thought pattern gets to this point, every instructions becomes easy and unnecessary comparison with people’s lives ends.

You are unstoppable!

Love X Uju.
