THE PERSON OF THE HOLY SPIRIT

The person of the Holy Spirit…

The Holy Spirit is the third member of the God head; we are privileged to fellowship with Him because of what Jesus has done for us. Christ’s resurrection brought access to the free gift and indwelling of the Holy Spirit.

Fellowshipping with the Holy Spirit is being intimate with Him and there is no way possible to be intimate with Him without knowing who He is, what He stands for and why He was sent to you by our Lord Jesus.

John 14:26
[26]But the Comforter (Counselor, Helper, Intercessor, Advocate, Strengthener, Standby), the Holy Spirit, Whom the Father will send in My name [in My place, to represent Me and act on My behalf], He will teach you all things. And He will cause you to recall (will remind you of, bring to your remembrance) everything I have told you.

He was promised to us by Jesus, to comfort us, advocate for us, intercede for us, strengthen and stand by us. We have to know Him and things He is in our lives to do, many people think of Him as “it” than “Him”, but according to the scriptures, the Holy Spirit is not only God but has a will, a personality and can even grieve (be offended).

A person is one who has their own identity or individuality as a rational being; they are conscious of their own existence. When we say the Holy Spirit is a person some assume that He has eyes, hands and feet, but these are not the attributes of a person. The attributes of a real person are knowledge, feelings and will.

The Holy Spirit has knowledge, feelings and a will. The fact that the Holy Spirit is a person can be observed in six (6) ways.

  1. He acts like a person.
  2. He is treated as a person.
  3. He has the ministry of a person
  4. He is mentioned in connection with other persons.
  5. He is the third person of the trinity and therefore is personal.
  6. He is portrayed as a thinking being with a mind, an emotional being and a volitional (or choosing) being.

John 16:13-14
[13]But when He, the Spirit of Truth (the Truth-giving Spirit) comes, He will guide you into all the Truth (the whole, full Truth). For He will not speak His own message [on His own authority]; but He will tell whatever He hears [from the Father; He will give the message that has been given to Him], and He will announce and declare to you the things that are to come [that will happen in the future].
[14]He will honor and glorify Me, because He will take of (receive, draw upon) what is Mine and will reveal (declare, disclose, transmit) it to you.

The Holy Spirit within a person is the presence of the living Christ, as He resurrected He came to dwell in our Spirit with His Spirit to make us one Spirit with Him, as long as you believe in the person of Jesus Christ, you have the same inseparable Spirit with Him – its make you and Christ one.

He is the Spirit of truth, He dwells in us to guard us into all truth, there are many truth we do not know. He does not speaks of Himself or glorifies Himself, He hears and speaks what Jesus Christ says – testifies about Jesus and not Himself. He is the spirit that opens you into the understanding of the Lord Jesus, the revelation of the father.

Stay in communication with the Holy Spirit, He feels, He talks and enjoys us talking back to Him. I seat and talk to Him like I talk to a human friend because He is also present and you must believe He is present, He is in us and we are in Him. He is the one personality I know that loves so much of our attention.

The Holy Spirit is the Spirit that helps us do all things, He helps us study the word (bible)  that was written through His inspiration in 2 Tim 3;16.

Romans 8:26
[26]So too the [Holy] Spirit comes to our aid and bears us up in our weakness; for we do not know what prayer to offer nor how to offer it worthily as we ought, but the Spirit Himself goes to meet our supplication and pleads in our behalf with unspeakable yearnings and groanings too deep for utterance.

He prays through us, He quickens us in the place of prayer and still do the praying for us through our joint spirit with Him.

We can habitually stay in fellowship with the Holy Spirit by constantly acknowledging His presence in us and with us. Constant study of the word written by His inspiration. In the place of prayer by allowing Him pray through you – He enables the believer to do all things.

You are unstoppable!
